[What and Why:] Intelligent call delegation is moving from Frontier public preview to public preview (Ring 3.6) beginning as early as November 17, 2026. This capability uses AI to screen incoming calls, gather context, and help users decide when to engage. It can also schedule follow-up appointments via Microsoft Bookings. [Rollout Schedule:] Public Preview (Worldwide): Mid-Nov 2026 to Mid Dec 2026. General Availability (Worldwide): Mid-January 2027 to late January 2027. (Dates are subject to change) [Impact on Your Organization:] Who is affected: Tenants that used Intelligent call delegation during Frontier preview and tenants planning to use it in Ring 3.6 public preview. Platforms/Services: Microsoft Teams Microsoft 365 Copilot (Premium) Microsoft Bookings integration What will happen: Intelligent call delegation remains available as an AI-powered call screening and context assistant. Public preview uses usage-based billing (UBB) with Copilot Credits. Billing does not begin until an admin configures spending in the Microsoft 365 admin center. If spending is not configured, tenants coming from Frontier preview will no longer have incoming calls screened by this feature. [Action Required/Recommendations:] If your organization plans to continue using Intelligent call delegation in public preview, complete the following: Create a spending policy in Microsoft 365 admin center using guidance in Managing AI experiences enabled by usage-based billing . Under agents and services, select Intelligent call delegation and clear other selections. Choose the intended user/group scope before assigning the policy. Confirm users are licensed with Microsoft 365 Copilot USL where required. [Compliance considerations:] Does the change introduce or significantly modify AI/ML or agent capabilities that interact with or provide access to customer data? Yes. Intelligent call delegation is an AI-powered capability that screens calls and gathers context to assist users. Does the change include an admin control, and can it be controlled through Entra ID group membership? Yes. Admins must configure usage-based billing policy scope in MAC and can target users/groups through existing admin policy controls.
